  We own a home about 30 min. from Rehoboth and we come to The Iguana often, especially during the off season before they close up for the winter, and in the spring. We drove 1 hour in busy holiday traffic today to patron this bar with good food and great drinks for the third time in 1 week. We always have a great time and have felt welcome with our kids. To our great disappointment, a very unfriendly hostess informed us she would not seat us tonight (along with my parents and kids) because we were "only ordering drinks and appetizers", although there were many open tables and no wait. Their policy for busy weekends is you must go to the bar for drinks, which is very difficult with kids. For a summer week at a busy family beach location, this is a really poor policy. Although it was not happy hour, we were happy to pay full prices for our drinks and apps, which can easily work up a substantial bill...$200 the day before! For regular customers who support this restaurant during it's slow times of the year, it was very sad to be turned away and refused service. The hostess was very abrupt and not at all apologetic in her delivery of the policy. A kind, professional explanation of the policy would have gone a long way, and just been good business. Better yet, serving your loyal patrons would be really good business. I could understand this policy a bit better if the restaurant was on a wait, but open tables should equal business. We were so sad, we went to Papa Grandes around the corner where we had a great experience and will likely return.
